Etiquette rules for school-age children: courtesy lessons

Children's behavior invariably worries all parents. It must strictly follow the rules of etiquette, but many think it is not easy to achieve this. This is a mistake: it is enough to solve the problem step by step and all difficulties will be overcome.

Features

Etiquette is a set of norms of behavior that regulate actions in specific places and situations. Having taught a child to follow generally accepted rules, you will not be embarrassed for his actions and will facilitate his relationship with others. Moreover, you will regularly hear the words of gratitude and improve the reputation of your family in the eyes of others.

To instill good manners begin with the norms of behavior that will be needed in the following situations:

  • in public places and on the street;
  • when going to visit;
  • how to arrive in transport;
  • when talking;
  • in the family;
  • at the table;
  • when communicating by phone;
  • in school.

Do not expect that everything will be learned only in words. No matter how attentively you are listened to, and whatever mutual understanding is achieved, you will have to learn first of all by your own example. Parents who call for one thing, and themselves acting in the opposite way very easily, imperceptibly, almost completely lose their authority.

It will be necessary to take into account that the whole environment as a whole serves as a model of behavior for children, therefore it is necessary to closely monitor who the child communicates with and what manners and habits can be learned.

How to train

To say that it is necessary to “bring up on concrete examples” is easy. But finding an approach to children is much more difficult. You need to start from the earliest years. Encourage your baby with intonation, gestures and looks for positive actions and blame for negative. This is most directly related to the development of good qualities among schoolchildren, and lays a solid and solid foundation for mastering the norms of ethics.

When a child reaches school age, you need to instill standards for action in a given situation. Be sure to pronounce each of your important steps, explain the reason why you did this way, and did not choose a different course of action.

When training should consider:

  • Violation of standards of conduct, indiscipline, rudeness should be corrected immediately. Do not wait until they take root, will become familiar.
  • Strictly monitor the tidiness and appearance in general. This is no less important than the words pronounced by a child, his gesticulation and general behavior.

Now you can consider private examples of etiquette. In each case, the same general principles of learning manifest themselves, but there are also their own, special ones.

At the table

Eating is an important component of schoolchildren’s life, and it is imperative that they show politeness and attentiveness at the table. Thinking about other people always:

  • uses only suitable cutlery, does not replace them with hands and other objects;
  • uses only a napkin to wipe hands, face and clothes at the table;
  • wash hands with soap and water before eating;
  • avoids talking or reducing them to the very minimum;
  • wishes everyone present at the table bon appetite at the beginning of the meal, thanks for it at the end.

Important: some children tend to eat faster than others, thus there is a champing, a mouthful of food is gathered, the plate overflows with food, something falls to the floor. All this is extremely reprehensible, and noticing such cases, you need to immediately stop their repetition. Convincingly and clearly explain to the child what threatens a certain actwhat is the opinion of others and what inconveniences are created.Prohibit outdoor games, all kinds of self-indulgence: at the table they have no place and no time!

On a visit

It is extremely rare to meet families in which they never go anywhere to visit. Excessively free behavior of the student, his lack of self-control can cause a lot of trouble and even provoke a scandal. The quiet discontent and irritation that gradually accumulates among the owners is no better.

At school age you should already know:

  • to come home to friends and classmates, you must have an invitation, to warn about your visit in advance;
  • you can not make noise, run, look into all the rooms and behind the door, open wardrobes and bedside tables;
  • it is forbidden to openly express dissatisfaction with the behavior of those present, the decoration of the house, food: the immediacy here turns from dignity to the strongest disadvantage;
  • one cannot take other people's things without permission or grab food from the table without permission.

Teaching it is inadmissible to simply reduce everything to a banal ban. It is necessary to motivate to eliminate errors. Teach your child to always think, "what if I were (a) in the place of those people."

Turn your imagination, which is still alive among schoolchildren, to your ally. Let them imagine in paints how unpleasant you feel in the presence of a person who looks everywhere, is very intrusive or does not obey elementary discipline. Then blush at a party or worry about the behavior of children the next time will not have to.

Ride on transport

This is another situation in which schoolchildren regularly make mistakes. These key requirements should be explained to them:

  • it is necessary to enter the salon, passing all those leaving;
  • it is necessary to give place to the elderly, disabled, younger;
  • it is advisable to remove the satchel, backpack or briefcase: leaving it on your shoulders, you can create inconvenience to other passengers;
  • you can not stay at the door if you do not go out at the next stop;
  • in transport it is forbidden to eat and drink, run around the cabin, carry on loud conversations. These items are most often violated by children.

A role-playing game turns out to be a good educational technique, after which any first-grader learns independently: why is it unpleasant to look at running children, what threatens an insatiable, uncontrollable attachment to ice cream. Pay attention during the trip by transport, how convenient it is to prepare for the exit in advance, and what problems do people who rush to the door doomed themselves only when they are opened.

The outside

Good behavior also implies adherence to ethics in public places, on the street. It is required to inspire children that:

  • garbage should be thrown only in bins and containers, and right on the ground;
  • you should not walk on the lawn, even if there are no prohibition signs;
  • always need to remember the rules of the road.

The urban environment is a source of not only opportunities, but also dangers. Pupils of schools should be firmly aware: if parents ask them to stay in a certain place, they should not leave in any case, no matter what benefits they promise and whatever requests they make. It is more correct to refuse to communicate with people who are unfamiliar to the child, even if they are peers or adults who do not inspire any fear.

Hold a training session: let your friend, unknown to a child or made up, try to talk to him and take him away under any pretext. Follow the reaction of your child, and then dismantle the result carefully and aggressively. If the student makes a mistake and confides in the “stranger” - tell me again about the dangers.

We go to the theater

The performance given by artists of the theater often becomes a holiday and an unforgettable spectacle, helps to form the best qualities and broaden the horizons of children. But they are obliged to see for themselves that the clothing in society remains neat and clean, and in case of any problems, it is not at all loud for adults to pay attention to it.

Tell us that in the theater, too, you should behave in a disciplined and polite manner; you should not pass to your place in the row, stepping on the legs of other people. During the presentation, you must refrain from cues and comments. If the child is trying to say something, let him tolerate to intermission.

Talk and talk

The student's speech etiquette is important in any of the situations described: at home, away, on the street and on the bus. The key points will be:

  • mandatory greeting friends;
  • appeal to any adult strictly on "you";
  • the inadmissibility of interference with other people's conversations and comments aloud;
  • farewell before leaving;
  • immediate apology in case of any offense;
  • a ban on insults, the use of parasitic words;
  • refusal to discuss other people, no matter whether they are among those present or not.

Follow the conversations of children, even in the most ordinary household situations. If the intonation is wrong, strange pauses appear and speech is clogged, diction is fuzzy or unpleasant - this must be fought. Sometimes it is necessary to interrupt the child and draw his attention to the mistake. Show tact and sensitivity, you can use humorbut let it be aimed at a miss, and not at the student’s personality.

Important: you can never break a scream or, all the more, physically punish violations of etiquette. This will only embitter and aggravate the problem. A common mistake of adults is the distribution of comments indiscriminately. Show patience and endurance, but be persistent, steadily draw one line.

School behavior

This is one of the most important parts of the life of any student. The child must learn to treat all teachers and employees of the school politely and respectfully. Doing homework, the location of items on the desk, accuracy, the availability of necessary textbooks, exercise books and sports uniforms are also a requirement of etiquette. Polite students do not listen to players, do not play games on the phone and do not call it during the lesson. This is convenient for everyone, especially for the students themselves.
