Narrow tie

Narrow tie

Trends in the development of world fashion show us such a garment accessory, like a narrow tie. They were fashionable in the sixties of the last century. Suffice it to recall the Beatles musicians. Later, by the eighties, the width of the tie increased to 8-10 cm or more. Now again, more and more often you can see narrow (already 6 cm), ties. It is “narrow” and not “thin”, because when they talk about thin, they often mean ties made of thin fabric. The tip of the tie can be the usual diamond-shaped, and can be rectangular, it is even more stylish.

A narrow herring tie is more suitable for slender tall people of both sexes, emphasizing the beauty of their figure. Dense low people will suit wider ties more - there should be a proportion in everything. Combines the same narrow tie with almost any clothing, it is enough not to wear it with a mint T-shirt and sweat pants.

Materials

Tie material can also be quite diverse. Of course, silk comes first, it's a classic. Other natural fabrics are completely acceptable - cashmere, wool, cotton, flax and their combination with silk. Ties knitted from wool or acrylic yarn look very good. Incomparable in elegance leather ties, they can be a highlight of both male and female wardrobe. A separate group - ties, laces (Bolo).

The width of a narrow tie is recommended to choose on the basis of the width of the jacket lapels - they should be combined. Narrow ties look great with single-breasted fitted jackets. The knot of such a tie should not be wide. In both men's and women's clothing, a narrow tie goes well with a classic shirt with a medium or narrow collar and a jumper.

Color spectrum

If you are dressed in a business style, then both the tie and the suit should be presented in the same color scheme. Undoubtedly, the meaning of the color of a tie is very important, therefore, compliance with some rules is required:

  • White tie - It is traditionally a tie of lawyers, judges and notaries. If you do not belong to them, then it is better not to wear a white tie.
  • Black tie underlines the official event. It should be remembered that black color is associated by many people with mourning, therefore at business negotiations and ceremonial receptions it is better to do without a black tie so as not to create a gloomy mood. Small color will help to revive the black color.
  • Blue and cyan Always relevant, as these are classic colors.
  • Maroon - This is also a classic color, the color of luxury. Such a tie will always look spectacular and fairly festive.
  • Red color gives the impression of self-confidence. The owner of a red tie looks like a competent person. However, the red color draws attention from the face of its owner, so it is not suitable for public speaking.
  • Pink - this is the color, it can cause a feeling of frivolity.
  • Yellow - associates persistence.
  • Purple a tie will add mystery to its owner.

How to choose

Their rules exist in the choice of a tie. The tie should be darker than the suit, and the shirt should be lighter than the tie. A monochromatic tie will suit the patterned shirt and vice versa, a patterned tie will fit a monotone shirt. Ties with an oblique strip and repeating geometric patterns (diamonds, zigzags, "cucumbers") are considered classic.

In a classic way, a tie should not catch the eye and draw attention to itself. This is only possible if you decide to create a club or sports image. Do not forget that a bright tie is more suitable for young. A mature man can wear a bright tie only at a summer resort and with a light suit.

A narrow tie is good in that it is able to make an image not only solid, but also stylish. Advice for men: if the tie is matched with taste, then retro and vintage styles can become elegant criteria for a man’s self-expression. It is also perfect for various parties and cocktails, as well as for cruise images. A narrow tie is found in the collections of many fashion houses: Dolce and Gabbana, Dior, Emporio Armani, Tom Brown, Fred Perry, John Varvatos, Neil Barrett, Hugo Boss, as well as ZARA and TOPMAN - they all took care of urban dandies.

How to tie

A narrow tie is good to tie a small knot, so it looks better. If you prefer a casual style of dress, the knot may be a little untidy and slightly loose. Given that the tie again becomes the subject of daily use, the skill of tying a tie should be every man.

It is best to tie a narrow tie with Quarter or Poluvindzor knots, but other knots will do as well. When tied, the wide end of the tie should touch the belt buckle or slightly cover it.

The Quarter Knot is tied like this:

  1. Put the tie ribbon around your neck so that the wide edge goes down the left side of the chest.
  2. Tie a narrow edge with a wide tie
  3. Make one full turn with a wide edge around the narrow
  4. Slide the wide edge through the loop on the neck from the inside to the outside so that the wide edge overlaps the narrow edge and the future knot
  5. Take a wide edge and pull it through the knot.

The poluvindzor node is a bit more complicated:

  1. Put the tie ribbon around your neck so that the wide edge hangs about 30 cm below the left side of the chest below the narrow one.
  2. Cover the narrow edge with the wide edge of the tie and then wrap the narrow edge so that the wide corner looks left.
  3. Bend the wide part up on the front side and hold it inside the throat loop
  4. We wrap the wide section around the future node, leaving a small gap, and again run it inside the throat loop
  5. From the throat loop, lower the wide part into the gap left before and tighten the knot.

With a tie, you can wear a clip, it is located between the 3 and 4 buttons of a shirt or at the level of the chest pocket of a jacket. The clip is designed to attach a tie to the shirt, but nowadays this accessory is more decorative than functional.

Ability to stand out

Even with such a traditional men's accessory as a tie, there is always an opportunity to stand out. First, it is a material and a coloring, from reserved elegant to the bright shouting color. And there are more daring solutions that allow you to use what you have right now. For example, you can tie a tie so that its wide and narrow ends are next to each other, and not one after the other.

For self-confident - the inside is longer than the outside. You can fill the tie between the third and fourth buttons of a shirt - fresh and cool.

To make a tie look good and rich for a long time, you need to follow a few rules:

  • Always untie your tie after you take it off.
  • Keep it either in a hanging position or folded - this will help smooth out the folds
  • Do not smooth your tie with an iron; use steam for this.
  • Do not wash ties, dry clean them.
  • Have a few neckties in the collection, change them every day, giving the fabric a "rest"

A tie is such an element of the men's wardrobe that can emphasize the dignity of the appearance of its owner and hide the flaws. He can tell about the status of a man, show his style, tell about his profession. Therefore, the choice of this accessory must be approached responsibly and carefully.
