How to tie a bow tie

For the correct location of a tie on the neck you need to correctly measure its girth. It is better to make measurements with a centimeter, which is important to correctly place on the neck: a centimeter should be located at the lower point of the Adam's apple in front and just below the middle of the neck in the back. An important rule: an index finger should pass between the measuring tape and the neck, this is necessary so that in the future the bow tie will sit comfortably and not rub the neck, such a tie will be very comfortable to wear.

Some of these accessories are labeled with markings that indicate the length of their girth. That is, if you already know your neck circumference, it will be very easy for you to choose the size that suits you, so initially check if the size is not indicated on the bow tie.

The next thing you need to do is to place the tie under the collar of the shirt, as if outweighing it, and take hold of its two hanging edges. The left end should be about three to five centimeters shorter than the right. If you are left-handed, it is better to do the opposite with the shorter edge of the bow tie, because most of the actions for tying this accessory you will do with the side where the part of the butterfly is shorter. Therefore, you need to take this fact into account when tying a bow tie.

The second step is the direct tie tie. First you need to cross the ends of this accessory, with the longer end should be placed on top of the short edge of the butterfly. The two edges should be quite tightly crossed around your neck, since the bow tie should sit tight enough, you should not allow it to hang or hang around your neck. But it is important to leave a distance at the neck at which it will be convenient for you to work with the butterfly when tying.

In the resulting loop you need to lower the long end of the tie with one hand, that is, you should have the most ordinary knot. The other hand should hold the butterfly in the place where its two edges intersect at the neck.

Then you need to take up the long end and throw it over the intersection of the two edges of the bow tie. If you have the opportunity, it is better after these actions to tighten the tie more tightly, if it does not create inconvenience for you.

After tightening the butterfly, it is better to move the long end to the right, towards the shoulder, since you will not need it anymore. Take the second edge to the left and bend it so that this fold is directed to the right side and the edge looking to the left looks something like an already tied bow tie. Then you need to raise this part and rotate it ninety degrees so that the loop will later rejoice, which should be located in the same place as the right edge that you slung over your shoulder.This fold will subsequently be the front loop of an already tied tie, which can be seen at the collar of the shirt between its corners.

The resulting loop must be covered with the other end of the tie that you previously lifted. The long edge, located on the shoulder, should be placed in the loop just made. Holding along the edges of the resulting loop, connect together so that the edge located on top of the loop is located in the middle. The upper end should be between the two edges of the loops.

Then you need to drag the middle part of the free-hanging end to the previously made knot. It forms the back of a knotted bow tie. So, after performing all the above actions, you get two separate parts of the butterfly, which you took in the previously completed steps.

The third step is pulling. It is necessary to tighten the resulting bow tie, for this you need to stretch in opposite directions two opposite ends. To loosen the bow tie a little, you should pull the front right end of it with the opposite rear left edge. Conversely, in order to tighten the bow tie, you need to pull the front left and opposite edges. These actions should be performed to give your accessory the desired shape and elasticity.

At the end of the process of tying a bow tie, you need to arrange it exactly, that is, align it to give it the desired look. To simplify this action, first loosen the butterfly, and when finished, re-tighten it as you see fit. Now you can lower the collar of the shirt back, since all the necessary actions with the bow tie are completed, it is tied! Important advice: it is better to at least sometimes check whether the tie has retained its previous appearance and do not allow it to be untied.

Before you start tying a tie around your neck, try tying a bow tie on the thigh part of the leg first. So it will be more convenient for you to hold hands, they will not get tired and you will be able to understand the general principle of this business. It is advised to practice it on the thigh, because, as a rule, its girth coincides with the girth of the neck. If the above actions seem complicated to you, try to imagine that you are tying not ordinary bow tie, but ordinary shoe laces, because the knot used is based on the same actions as any other ordinary knot.
