Style "Punk" in clothes

Punk style in clothes

It would be wrong to associate a shocking and extravagant punk style only with clothes and hair sticking out of a comb. This is a whole philosophy of subculture and a certain way of life. Therefore, when using individual features of punk style in clothes, it is necessary to clearly understand where they came from and what they mean.

History of

The punk style has budded off from the hippie style, which originated in the 60s of the twentieth century. Hippies promoted peace, love and freedom. Freedom in everything, starting from freedom of speech and thought, ending with free relations. These ideas were partially continued in the music of the world famous bands “The Beatles”, “Rolling Stones”.

In the 70s, punk became popular in the UK thanks to the Ramones group, which was the first to play punk rock. However, earlier in America the word "punk" was considered abusive, so called prostitutes or "six prisoners." Later, the word “punk” was used to mean “rottenness”, “dirt”, because the punks constantly opposed themselves to society, insulted passersby, fought with the police and, in the literal and figurative sense, spat at the public.

But it was before. The modern philosophy of punk culture is no longer to fights and shows, rather, it focuses on its own ego, vulgar-free behavior, protest against any canons-stereotypes and everything that is not related to punk. The founders of this stylistic direction were Malcolm McLaren, who owned his own clothing boutique and his wife, a well-known designer and the main “hooligan” in the fashion world, Vivienne Westwood. Her most famous know-how is the hedgehog hairstyle with protruding hair. Maclaren at that time produced the punk rock band Sex Pistols, which later became a cult. It was Westwood who first invented a shocking image for her and created spectacular, noisy collections of ripped jeans and T-shirts with inscriptions.

Features

Briefly, a punks wardrobe can be described as “anti-fashion”, underlined vulgarity, freedom of expression and everything “inelegant.” Their unchanging accessories are bracelets, spiked wristbands, and later “metalworkers” borrowed. Active piercings and tattoos, an abundance of rivets, badges, pins and a permanent hairstyle in the form of a "Iroquois" immediately isolated punk from the crowd.

The adherents of this direction did not shun shabby torn clothing, leaky T-shirts with torn sleeves, used old military uniforms, and in the absence of the latter, they simply casually sewed loose overalls from various pieces of fabric with multi-colored threads. From the jewelry they liked to use laces, ropes and invariable huge pins. In addition to everything - necessarily symbols of anarchy and various indecent inscriptions.

Signs of fashionable wardrobe

Now outerwear punks - certainly a leather jacket-leather jacket and jewelry in the form of a set of "scrap metal." The main rule - metal jewelry does not happen much. Jeans also correspond to the style: the more they are torn, cut, worn to holes - the more fashionable. Some "mods" turn their pants inside out, randomly tear off the lower part, sew shreds, draw provocative inscriptions and drawings with the help of paint from cans, decorating with metal accessories. The result is real masterpieces of punk art that cannot be compared with standard items from the store. For shoes, massive army type boots with thick soles and a rough toe, upholstered in metal lining or plain sneakers are better suited.

The girls have always tried to keep up with the extravagance of the guys. The task of a punk friend is to shock others. Leaky tights or leggings in combination with a mini-skirt and platform shoes with stiletto heels organically combined with the general sloppy appearance of a punk lady. Creative makeup was a completely white face with a massive coal eye contour, black lipstick and the corresponding nail polish.

Hair and makeup

But the most important element of the style is considered a mohawk. The luxurious image stylishly complements the hairstyle in the form of a vertically standing comb, which has shades of a rainbow in both single-color tones and various color combinations, as bright as possible. The dirtier the hair, the better: this makes it easier for them to shape the spikes. To create a fashionable hairstyle used the appropriate styling tools - beer or sweet water. Modern punks create masterpieces in the form of "needles" and "thorns" with the help of varnishes and gels, although in large quantities. Cosmetics on the face now, mostly used by girls. "Neformalki" love the dark outline around the eyes, bright shades of defiant colors and a thick layer of mascara on the eyelashes.

To wear such clothes and “war paint”, it is necessary not only to have a certain audacity and courage, but also to share in the soul the basics of the principles of punks - rebellion and desire for freedom. That is why in their shocking appearance there is a complete anarchism, the rejection of all canons and stereotypes, as well as the steady desire to oppose itself to society and its norms and rules.

Attributes and accessories

Creating such a dress requires a rich creative imagination, as well as the required elements of decor:

  • tattoos,
  • piercing
  • leather belts, bracelets and collars with metal studs and heavy metal plates,
  • chains of various sizes
  • safety pins, rivets and badges.

Futuristic cyberpunk

The modern direction appeared in the early nineties, after the release of a number of famous science fiction films telling about man-made disasters and a bleak future. Representatives of this movement are reminiscent of the heroes of these films, and the attributes use appropriate ones: glasses with neon lenses, various symbols of the industrial world and biological danger. The wardrobe uses latex, leather, nylon - all of these are bright, poisonous or black colors. A girl with dreadlocks on her head, wearing a short vinyl skirt and colorful fishnet tights, always makes a splash at a youth party.
