Jacket Park "Alaska"

Jacket Park Alaska

Few items of outerwear boast a cult status, but the Alaska Winter Park is just that. Despite the 70-year history of existence, this jacket is still in demand and practically does not descend from the fashion stage. This is due primarily to its unique thermal properties, allowing the body to warm even in the most severe cold. This jacket can be safely used as a down jacket, standing out against the general background of gray mass. But why is this jacket called the name of the largest state of America and what are its main features?

A bit of history

The first Alaska jackets appeared in the 50s of the last century and became a real salvation for American military pilots. The fact is that in those days they were forced to work in extreme weather conditions, in latitudes, where the air temperature drops to a critically low point. Designers who were tasked to sew radically warm clothing for the military, drew attention to the clothes of the Eskimos from Alaska.

To adapt to the activity in the northern latitudes, they were forced to wear jackets that are unique in their properties. They did not constrain the movements due to the anatomical cut, but at the same time perfectly warmed in the cold. In order to give the clothes the warming properties of the Eskimos, the main raw materials for tailoring, deer skins, and fish oil were soaked. The cold wind and temperatures up to -70 ° C were not terrible, because the jackets were complemented by a high collar covering the face and a deep hood.

Features and benefits

Modern designers have borrowed technology tailoring from the Eskimos, but small items still improved. Heavy leather was replaced with the latest thermal insulation materials, and heavy-duty zippers were used as fasteners. Alaskan jackets are good because they have no extra elements: The sewn pockets are present on the chest and in the lower part of the jacket, and all valves are fully warmed. On the left shoulder there is even a small pocket in which you can put a handle, and the sleeves are sewn along the raglan type so as not to hinder movement. Cuffs and adjustable waist straps, as well as an additional layer of fabric around the elbows on the sleeves are an additional detail of the sleeves.

It is curious that until the 70s of the last century, jackets began to be warmed with woolen filler, which gave extra volume and weight to the jacket. A little later, the previous filler was replaced with polyester wool, which had a much lower weight. In modern parks, only modern materials are used as insulation, which practically do not give additional volume to jackets.

Fashion trends

The signature feature of the Alaska jacket, which has been especially valuable at all times, is the lining, or rather its bright shade. Such detail played in the last century is not a decorative value. So, in the case of the ejection, the pilot could put the jacket on its out side and it was easier for the rescuers to find it. In modern times, the bright lining has become a trademark, a fashionable highlight of the jacket for all times.

How to choose

Not many people know that the Alaska jacket was designed by Alpha Industries, and this company uses exclusively laconic colors for sewing jackets - black, green, blue and maroon. But the lining is sewn only in one color - orange, since it is he who is best seen in the snow depth.

But it is not always possible to distinguish the original Alaska model from a fake only in shade. If you want to choose a really real model of the jacket, then you should take into account several important features:

  1. The original parks have a zipper on the pocket pocket with a trademark impression.
  2. The buttons on the outside of the jacket and the buckles fastening the hem to the hood have a brilliant texture and rounded edges.
  3. To the pockets for pens additionally attached caps in the form of a bullet.

To the corporate packaging of the jacket must be attached tokens and stickers with a special QR-code. On the tokens must be information about the name of the model, her cat and the abbreviation of size.

It is interesting that initially the Alaska jacket was designed exclusively for slim young men with harmonious proportions of silhouette, but today you can even find models of large size and they have an amazing slimming effect.

What to wear

Nowadays, the Alaska jacket can be combined with any everyday wardrobe items. These can be classic jeans or any pants with a tight cut. To create a sporty look, you can complement such a jacket with ski pants - it will be very impressive.

Shoes, ideally suited for "Alaska", are boots, as well as stylish soldiers' boots or sports shoes in the form of sneakers or sneakers. Detail, completing any image, will be a scarf. It is better if it is knitted and tied with a yoke of the same type. The cap is better to choose sports.

Stylish images

But the elegance and chic image will help give the right accessories. The best bag for the park is a backpack, as it is in harmony with the overall style of the dress. It is important to observe the harmony of color combinations. Green jackets should be complemented with beige, sand, brown and gray clothes, dark blue with blue, black and yellow, and dark maroon with brown and gray.

You will look very harmonious in such a jacket if you complement the image with a travel bag or any other shapeless cut. But in general terms we can say that when combining a jacket with other elements of the wardrobe, one should take into account the volume of its cut.
