The history of Russian folk headdress with a flower

The history of a headdress with a flower originates from a shako - a military headdress of a large cylindrical shape, spread in many European armies.

For the first time in the 18th century, hussars began to use it in their form. Over time, the shako became popular in other parts of the army, but was very tall and heavy.

Instead of such an inconvenient headgear, they invented a lighter and more comfortable cap for working in the field and with household needs.

At the beginning of the 19th century it was still quite large in size and consisted of:

  • round bottom;
  • crown;
  • round band;
  • vertical visor;
  • chin strap.

The next stage in the development of the cap is the lowering of its height. The back side goes down and the front remains unchanged, which is why the bottom acquires an oval shape.

  • The material was used varied, but necessarily dense: cloth felt, wool, cheviot, faya. The color of the fabric was mainly dark, black, dark gray, brown. Most of the caps were made of dark blue or almost black cloth, which was then in vogue.
  • Visors were leather, woven, made of artificial material or paper made of cardboard, covered with a cloth. Usually black or lacquered.
  • The summer cap of a villager could be made of cotton or itching white, of lyustrin or alpaca gray or trendy khaki. Such caps were predominantly with a cloth visor.
  • Starting his way into the army, the cap easily entered the ranks of the civilian population, being at the same time simple and convenient.
  • In contrast to the caps of the military and civil servants, the peasant cap did not have a chinstrap. On the occasion of a wedding or a holiday, a live or artificial flower was inserted into a specially left hole. Also for decoration used various ribbons, buttons, buckles.

Stylish images

Today, the cap has not lost its relevance, on the contrary, has become a bright addition to the image. If 100 years ago the cap was considered only a man's headdress, now it has become available to the female half. This opened up the opportunity for fashionistas to happily incorporate a cap into their new looks.

  • The first one wants to call the military style as “a favorable environment” for such a headdress as a cap. A good combination would be a military-style coat and flared trousers with a cap-cap.
  • Feel free to combine a cap with clothes in grunge and rock styles.
  • For a walk, you can choose a fashionable velvet coat today, a gold cap, leather skinny trousers and a furry bag to complement the look.
  • For those who prefer the restrained classics, there is also a decent option - a cap, plus a classic two jacket and skirt.
  • A black shiny coat, a knitted tunic dress and a black white pearl cap are a spectacular bow for a party or exhibition.
  • The combination of a transparent dress and a jacket with a velvet cap in a new way will emphasize your sexuality.
  • Printed jumpsuits can also be on the list of successful connections with a cap.
  • Cap and leather jacket can be combined in the case, if it is correctly selected bottom. For example, wide trousers from dense fabric and heavy boots on a lacing.
  • Knitted cap looks softer, calmer, more feminine. There is only one “but”: it should not be included in the ensemble, where there is already a big knitted thing such as a sweater or dress. If a felt or drape cap is a bad choice for a classic-style coat, then a knitted wool cap is just a great option for him.
