It is not very convenient to carry the baby in your arms and it is impossible to put it in the car seat (only some models of envelopes have a hole for the seat belt between the legs). At the same time, the envelope is definitely a warm option, since air circulates freely inside it.

Overalls. Harder to put on, but more functional - suitable for car rides. Necessarily requires the presence of shoes, although most often, overalls are sold complete with detachable warm booties.

Overalls envelope. In the people such a thing is also called "transformer". This is a jumpsuit that has zippers on the step seams. They can be unbuttoned and they can be used to join sheets in such a way that a sleeping bag is obtained. The bottom edge tucks in and fastens with buttons. Convenience is that the envelope is used for the stroller, and for traveling by car or sitting carriages, where there is a belt between the legs, the envelope is shifted into overalls.

For newborns usually buy things on the 50th or 56th size. However, outerwear must take into account the growth of the child. Autumn baby can buy a transformer on the growth of 74: then he will sleep peacefully in it in the fall, and in the spring - already sit in the stroller in it, just like in overalls. If such a jumpsuit will be with winter linings, then it will fit in the cold. Similarly - for spring babies. Mothers, whose child is born in winter, should understand that most likely, the first jumpsuit of the baby next winter will not work anymore.

Walking with a newborn is advised from the very first days. The only exception is the "winter" kids - usually for them, walks start on the balcony. The minimum temperature at which you can walk with a newborn (child up to 28 days) is minus 15 ° C.

For spring, you will need a demi-season jumpsuit / envelope and a lightweight “man” jumpsuit for warm weather. Demi-season clothing is insulated with padding polyester, izofost, or other types of modern fillers. For the beginning of spring (from about 0 ° C to + 8 ° C) a jumpsuit with insulation of 50-80 g / sq.m. Is useful. Under it will be enough to pry thin knitted or plush overalls. Further insulation can be adjusted with a blanket.

On the warm spring weather, when there is no wind and the sun shines, the child can be changed into a lighter jumpsuit - as a rule, it is made of plush, velor or other thick, but soft materials. It is slightly insulated with padding polyester and has a cotton lining.

The sleeves of outerwear for newborns are usually closed with a special cap cuff, but on cool days you can wear a baby and mittens. The child must wear a knitted hat, which covers the ears well and preferably without pompons, strings and other things that may interfere with the lying baby.

For winter, the newborn needs to choose the warmest option. It is best to stay on a synthetic insulation, but its amount in clothing should be at least 250 g / sq.m. It is a really warm jumpsuit, although it is lightweight and usually seems “thin” to grandmothers.

Those who do not believe in the power of polyester, you can buy outerwear for down. This is also a very warm and fairly light option. However, down is more difficult to care for, and it will probably “climb”.

For conservatives - overalls with fur or with fur podstezhkoy. The good old sheepskin will warm the child, and all the relatives will happily exhale. However, such overalls are heavy, it is difficult to move in them (it is important for the baby to stay moving inside the outerwear) and, as a rule, they are inferior in appearance to all other options.

As for the upper fabric, there is no point in taking a membrane to newborns. Since the baby is mostly asleep, he will freeze in thin membrane overalls. The only exceptions are winter wear with downy membrane (available, for example, at Reima) or with insulation of 300 g / sq.m. In this case, the overalls will be warm on its own, and the membrane will provide additional protection against wind and moisture.

For the fall, you will need the same set as for the spring - a warmed "man" and a demi-season overalls. On average in Russia, in winter overalls, children begin to wear in the second half of October.
